How I Curate Playlists
Every playlist tells a story, and I aim to recognize this. For nearly all of the ones I've made, I have tried to pay attention to the listening experience — the mood of each song, the pace and energy of each track, the sound, all of that. It reminds me of what it must have felt like back in the days of mixtapes and CDs, where you had to be deliberate in which songs made the cut and went where on the limited storage. Additionally, I should know all of the songs I added, because what fun is it to create a playlist and not even like the songs you add?

These playlists are close in length to the 80-minute maximum that audio CDs restrict you to. For me, this makes me think more critically about the songs I add and where.
Love songs that are softer and serve as excellent background music
Classics from Alvvays and Cults, along with more Dream Pop adjacent tracks
● Nostalgic Pop - The Clean Highlights
Some all-time radio hits from my childhood, excluding the majority of expletives
A combination of my and my mother's 90s-2000s of Europop and dance pop

These playlists are focused on demonstrating the best that one artist has to offer. Lengthwise, they are either 20 tracks or 80 minutes — whichever is hit first.

These playlists align with one genre, whether it be vaguely common or oddly specific.

A mix of 90s music produced with electronics, usually of European origin
An unrefined playlist of Random Encounters musical and songs from games
A collection of partially- or non-English tracks. A way to celebrate the diversity of the global soundscape
